Also this year in August the festival of the 'sfogliatella
Santa Rosa'will take place in Conca dei Marini.
The sfogiatella is a typical Neapolitan pastry of ancient
origins. It is said that around 1681 in the Convent of Santa
Rosa bread was distributed to poor people on feast days and
that with the leftover dough for the bread a very special
sweet puff pastry was prepared, with the shape of a sehell
and composed of thin pastry leaves, with cream filling and
bits of fruit from the garden of the convent.

The "Mediterranean high diving championship cup" is
the famous diving
competition from great heights held every year in July at
the natural fjord of Furore on the Amalfi Coast.
This year it reaches the 25th edition. The race takes place
on the bridge at a height of 28 m
above the sea and the strongest athletes in the world participate
in this sport. In 2010 Tania Cagnotto was the special guest.
Gusta Minori 2011 - Minori, Amalfi Coast - 12-13 September
Also this year on the Amalfi Coast the town of Minor proposes
'Gusta Minori', its cultural that brings to life the
gastronomic traditions to discover and exploite appreciate
the old flavors of Minori and the whole Amalfi Coast.

order to promote the typical products and local artists.
Festival Mare Musica (Sea Music Festival) - Minori, Amalfi
Coast

Also this year Minor offers music performances and theater
from July to September through its 'Festival Mare Musica',
a fascinating combination of art, culture and folklore,
including a series of musical events held at the 'Teatro
del Mare', starting at midnight, for those fond of summer
nightlife under the stars.
The Festival Mare Musica" is divided in several sections
for any taste: The Art of the Idle, Music and Events, Movies
and Prose under the stars, Art in Progress,
Movida and Beyond, Cultural Moments.
'The Ducal Wedding' - Atrani, Amalfi Coast

Also this year, 'The Ducal Wedding' takes place in Atrani
on the Amalfi Coast. It is held on April 26 and is
a historical re-enactment of the event occurred on April
26 1002, when, in the Palatine Chapel of S. Salvatore de
Birecto
the marriage of Sergio, the son of John I, Duke of Amalfi
and nephew of the Duke Mansone I, and Mary, daughter of the
Prince of Capua and Benevento Pandolfo
II, was celebrated. This wedding sealed the alliance between
Amalfi and one of the most powerful regional states. The
suits used for this event are the same usually used for the
annual Regatta of the Ancient Marine Republics held every
four years in Amalfi.
Fish Festival - Positano, Amalfi Coast

'Le Giornate del pesce azzurro' is a traditional summer event
which takes place in Cetara every year in August to taste
anchovies and tuna fish. This year it is held from August
6 to 9 and it is the continuation of the initiative held
in July known with the name 'A Tutto Tonno'. Main purpose
is the promotion of local fish, the anchovies in particular,
on which the economic and social life of Cetara is essentially
based. This enchanting fishing village of the Amalfi Coast
is very proud of its ancient fishing and cooking traditions.......
above all of its typical anchovy sauce called 'colatura
di alici di Cetara'.
Festa del Pesce Azzurro - ('the Blue Fish and Anchovies
Festival' )
Atrani, Amalfi Coast, - last week of August 2011
In the last week of August Atrani, an ancient charming fishing
village on the Amalfi Coast, will host the 'blue fish and
anchovies festival' ("Festa del pesce azzurro"),
to taste recipes with anchovies, tuna, and learn more about
their processing. Evenings filled with music, lights, colors,
and flavors of the ancient traditions of Atrani. The streets,
alleys and courtyards are open to be admired in their former
glory following a guided path to revive the charm of fishing
craft, through places and images.

'Marathon Coast to Coast - from Sorrento Coast to Amalfi
Coast'
It is confirmed: on Sunday, December 18, 2011 the third edition
of the' Marathon Coast to Coast - from Sorrento Coast to
Amalfi Coast' will take place, covering a distance of 42.195
km.
It will start at 9.00 a.m. in Sorrento to end in Maiori,
and along the distance all runners will pass through the
breathtaking territories such as Sorrento, Sant'Agnello and
its ancient buildings, Piano di Sorrento and the ancient
charm of this village, Meta and its unique atmosphere, Positano
and its enchanting atmosphere, the suggestive Praiano, Atrani
and its narrow streets, and finally Minori and Maiori, all
worthy to be visited.
